Building Permit Application Instructions and General Information

- Contact the City Office or download the PDF in the following section for any building permit application form. Please read the application instructions carefully. An incomplete application may delay your requested permit or cause additional fees for reviews or inspections.
- Return the completed Application, a site plan and application fees to the City office. Digital copies of the blueprints/construction plan may be sent to:: cityoffice@cityofbennet.com or cityclerk@cityofbennet.com. Fees can be made online at: https://otc.cdc.nicusa.com/p/nebraska/City%20of%20Bennet/
- The plan review will take 7-10 days, the City Office will notify you when it is approved. At this time, any additional fees will be added. Upon payment you will receive a copy of the building permit and an inspection signature placard. The placard needs to be placed inside the building site. It is suggested it should be hung by the furnace.
- Initial zoning inspection: Survey marks (Lot lines) need to be clearly and properly identified, for new construction, a survey is required. Stake or flag the new construction area (footprint). Provide accurate measurements from designated survey marks.
- It is the responsibility of the builder to contact inspectors for the designated inspections. Please allow for 3 - 5 day's notice for an inspection to be completed. When each inspection is completed, the inspector MUST sign the placard.
- Completion: When the building project is finished and all inspections have been completed and signed for, the placard must be returned to the Bennet City Office.
- The final Certificate of Occupancy will be issued upon receipt of proof of final building inspection and full payment of any additional fees.
