Bennet Dog and Cat Regulations (September 2016)

image1163

A pet owner is anyone who harbors, feeds, or allows a dog or cat to remain at their premise for 10 days or more.

Dogs and cats six months and older must be licensed every year with the Village by April 10th. Prepare to provide a current certificate of rabies vaccination when licensing. The cost of annual licensing is $6.25 per animal for the first three dogs or cats. Each additional pet is licensed at the cost of $51.25 each.

Bennet identification tags should be worn by pets at all times. If your pet loses a current tag, it will be replaced at no charge. Pets found at large without a current Bennet tag will be transported directly to the Nebraska Human Society.

Owners of dogs exhibiting aggressive behavior towards people or other animals may be required to use additional restraints to insure the public safety. Dogs with habitual aggressive behavior may be removed from their owner.

All pets must be under the control of their owner or responsible person by leash, cord, chain or in a cage or fenced area.

Be a responsible pet owner and a good neighbor. Clean up after your pet in your yard, or public areas. Do not allow your pet to use your neighbor’s property as a toilet area.
