On Monday, May 20th, the city will begin sealing a number of the asphalt streets on the west side of Hwy 43. The streets will be closed down one block at a time for a period of 2-3 hours. The contractor, H & L Asphalt, will knock on each door on the block prior to closing down the street to allow vehicles to be moved, if needed. If weather permits, the work is anticipated to be complete by the end of the week
The annual Bennet Community Clean Up Day is April 27th,m 8 AM to Noon.
At the refuse site, there will be three (3) open top containers for large items such as furniture, mattresses, carpeting, etc. and one (1) container for recycling items such as paper, plastic jugs and cardboard.
Electronic recycling will be at the City Hall, 685 Monroe Street. This service is provided by American Recycling. Their slogan is—if it plugs in, they’ll take it!
Examples of acceptable items: TV’s, desktop PC’s, laptops, iPads, Android tablets, hard drives (outside computer), keyboards, cell phones & chargers, land line phones, walkie talkies, CB radios, cordless phones. Stereo receivers, CD players, headphones & earbuds, speakers. Film cameras, lenses, digital cameras.
Scanners, fax machines, printers, toner cartridges. Game consoles, VCR’s, DVD’S. players, cable & satellite receivers, treadmills. Toasters, microwaves, crock pots, bread machines, coffee makers, irons, food processors.
NO TIRES OR HAZARDOUS WASTE ITEMS!
